What are the biggest challenges facing the probate court system and how would you address them?
I believe the probate court is currently operating effectively. However, I believe there is a need for greater efficiency in case management and the timely resolution of probate cases. Timely management, transference of property, and closing of estate cases is an economic and cost concern for the courts as well as for heirs, and legatees.
I firmly believe the court should be more progressive in serving the needs of its community. As the diversity in our county evolve, so must the court. To ensure public trust and confidence, fairness, and access to justice, the courts are challenged with the increased demand for interpreter services, the need to recruit and retain qualified personal to serve its diverse community, the need to provide information in different languages, and the need to provide sensitivity training to court personnel and the judiciary.
I believe the implementation of strategic planning, research and development, collaboration with other court systems facing similar challenges will assist with the ongoing need to be responsive to community evolution and growth.
