What are your top three priorities for the next four years, if elected?

Education, Healthcare, Transportation.

How would you rate the performance of the current representatives of your district: excellent, good, fair or poor? Why?

Excellent! My delegates are talented legislative leaders and do an exemplary job of representing our constituents.

Do you support amending the constitution to give the legislature more budget authority?

Yes

Is the rate of growth in Maryland too fast, too slow or about right, and why?

As far as economic growth is concerned, more should be done to encourage

Minority business ownership and expansion.

What programs would you like to add or cut from the state budget? How would you pay for additional programs? What would you do with the money from any cuts you make?

Some type of funding floor for Higher Education should be established. Any

money from cuts should be spent on school construction and student tuition assistance.

What must be done to ensure the long-term success of Prince George’s

Hospital Center?

Affiliation with a teaching hospital should be established.

Is there adequate federal emergency and preparedness support for Prince

George’s County given its proximity to the nation’s capital?

Absolutely Not!

Are there specific taxes or fees that you would cut?

Eliminate the death tax (estate tax)

Do you support slot machines for Maryland? Why or why not?

Yes, the 8M dollars spent annually on slots in neighboring states would be

Better used here on education and healthcare.

Do you support giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants?

Yes, otherwise, they drive without licenses and insurance. A license is necessary for most of them to get and stay employed.

Do you support in-state tuition to illegal immigrants?

Yes, education is the key to fulfilling their potential.

What is the biggest problem facing higher education and what would you do to solve it?

Adequate funding. I would establish a specific amount of state funding that must be provided in the budget.

Where would you get more money for the Transportation Trust Fund?

Must look to the federal government.

What specific transportation projects do you see as priorities for the state?

Extension of the purple line across Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Should there be a dedicated funding source for Washington and Baltimore mass transit?

We already have a dedicated source of funding — The Transportation Trust Fund.

Would you re-regulate the electricity industry?

The new PSC is charged with examining and determining which aspects of re-regulation are feasible and affordable.

Do you believe Maryland’s gun control laws are too strict, not strict enough or just right?

Not strict enough. The sale and possession of assault weapons should be banned.

What is your position on abortion?

A woman’s right to choose is the law of the land and I uphold the law.

Should the Maryland constitution be changed to allow same-sex marriages?

No

Does the state need stricter controls to protect the environment?

Yes
