What are your top three priorities for the next four years, if elected?
Top three priorities, if elected includes: emphasis on back to basics and away from slogans; halt waste and contract abuse so spending is thrift; motivate parents back to schools to assist with the efforts of the teachers.
How would you rate the performance of the current school board: excellent, good, fair or poor? Why?
Performance of current school board is almost poor when viewing the funds and the results
Is the county funding for schools too much, about right or too little? If too little, where would you find additional funds?
Funding is about right if the administration would just govern.
What should the school system do to raise student achievement?
First, bring some excitement to learning and create more fine arts, music and physical education to bring the bodies in shape and the mind will ascend.
What would you do to recruit and retain quality teachers?
Stop the bad attitudes towards our teachers, offer incentives for accreditation and contractually firm commitments for retention while we pay for continuing education.
What would you do to reduce student truancy?
Invite our parents in more, suggest counseling and court action, if all else fails after a few truancies find parents liable or consider alternative or night school. Respect the students and families while being constant.
Would you support having more charter schools in Prince George’s County?
Yes, I would support more charter schools only with close oversight to avoid a small group from discrimination and abuse of the system of charters.
Do you think the current system for renovating and building schools is adequate or does it need changing?
Changes are needed for renovations and we need to include Prince George’s County residents and students from vocational training within PGCPS’s, before a contract is awarded. It is criminal to award so many Caucasians contractors to build and renovate schools while refusing to train, hire or consider our own students and citizens.
Should the school system’s health curriculum include discussions of homosexuality and demonstrations of contraception use?
Homosexuality should be banned from our comprehensive schools and those choosing that lifestyle should be sent to a school exclusive to that student and staff for all discussions. Demonstrations of contraceptives should be taught at home until a student reaches 12th grade.
What do you think about the board’s relationship to the community?
There is no relationship to the community with this school board, when you have no clear boundaries, no liaisons to channel for the community and a board that cares too much about the politicians of this county.
Does the County Council have too much, too little or not enough oversight of the school system?
Too much oversight by the County Council and the current School Board do not care to question for the masses.
Do you think the school system is doing enough to meet the needs of special education students?
No, the school system is not meeting the needs of special education students again because of lack of concern or alarm for our special family participants.
Are the schools safe for students and school personnel? If not, what should be done?
All schools should have video⁄audio security, all staff needs security checks every 3-5 years, and polygraphs should be considered because we know we have some lying staff and students within our walls. Security guards teachers and students have been known to rape and fight. We must monitor all and tell all when a school knows of an arrest or incident to keep the schools safe.
Do you think the school system is doing enough to meet the needs of students and parents for whom English is not their primary language?
Yes, I feel enough is being done by my observations at my 2 son’s schools and have witnessed others schools admiration for teaching families wherein English is not their primary language.
With uniforms becoming the norm at many county schools, would you want a countywide policy established?
Yes, with the same application for staff and students a countywide school uniform policy is warranted.
What qualifications do you possess that make you a worthy candidate?
Worthiness possessing a vested interest with a 4th and 10th grader within the PGCPS system, sincerity to treat all fairly, business owner for 22 years, married for 16 years (shows commitment) and still happy, not connected to any politician or slate and possess an independent mind. Resided all my life within Washington, DC or Prince George’s County and know the people well who attend public schools. Will defend the children, public’s dollars and education with all honors.
