Why are you running for office and what would you like to see changed?
I am seeking election to the Office of Clerk of the Circuit Court because recognize that the court is in a period of transition. And, not unlike many courts around the nation, our Circuit Court is confronted with the similar situation of having to identify and incorporate relevant and targeted change< to accommodate the needs of our community and this transition. Specifically, meaningful access, technology, staff concerns, caseload and case flow requirements and the need to continue to foster the trust and confidence of the users of court services.
To that end, I have spent most of the past 16-years leading, guiding and managing both the Circuit and District Courts at the executive level. And, during that time I have developed considerable expertise in court operations as a court executive manager. I have found that such experience is critical to the continued successful operation of courts. I believe that every user of our Court’s services should expect and even demand that a candidate’s ability to successfully respond to the varying issues affecting our court are already present – experience counts.
On the matter of change, I will work to broaden and enhance access to court services. In addition, one of my initial focuses will be to assess and determine where modifications to the physical infrastructure could produce increased efficiencies. I will work together closely with other members of the court to incorporate changes that will systematically lessen our reliance on paper and meet the needs of our ever growing diverse population.
And one of my key goals will be to insure that every employee is treated fairly, productive, informed, and is able to perform in an environment that is conducive to supporting their efforts to meet the Court‘s goals and objectives.
