What are your top three priorities for the next four years, if elected?
Illegal immigrants, eminent domain, and infrastructure.
How would you rate the performance of the current representatives of your district: excellent, good, fair or poor? Why?
Good. I believe they fairly represent their constituents.
Do you support amending the constitution to give the legislature more budget authority?
Absolutely not.
Is the rate of growth in Maryland too fast, too slow or about right, and why?
Too fast.
What programs would you like to add or cut from the state budget? How would you pay for additional programs? What would you do with the money from any cuts you make?
Will be detailed in the ‘‘Our Future” pledge.
Are there specific taxes or fees that you would cut?
Will be detailed in the ‘‘Our Future” pledge.
Do you support slot machines for Maryland? Why or why not?
Although this is debated, for some, is honest and based in conviction and the wish to protect the weaker among us. Unfortunately, the real argument in Annapolis is about who gets the lion’s share.
Do you support giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants?
No.
Do you support in-state tuition to illegal immigrants?
No. Not out-of-state tuition either.
What is the biggest problem facing higher education and what would you do to solve it?
It’s crushing cost to the middle-income households who aren’t eligible for assistance. It would be easy to say, ‘‘Lets wrench more money from Marylanders” but I won’t. I don’t know how to solve it, but I’ll do my best to find an answer.
Where would you get more money for the Transportation Trust Fun?
Will be detailed in the ‘‘Our Future” pledge.
What specific transportation projects do you see as priorities for the state?
Will be detailed in the ‘‘Our Future” pledge.
Should there be a dedicated funding source for Washington and Baltimore mass transit?
Yes.
Would you re-regulate the electricity industry?
No.
Do you believe Maryland’s gun control laws are too strict, not strict enough or just right?
If you’re not a law-abiding citizen then it doesn’t matter what laws exist, criminals will simply ignore them. So who exactly, would stricter laws benefit?
What is your position on abortion?
Abortions should only be permitted where cases of incest, rape or there’s danger to the mother. I do agree with the use of non-regimental medications that would prevent pregnancy.
Should the Maryland constitution be changed to allow same-sex marriages?
No.
Does the state need stricter controls to protect the environment?
Yes, specifically aimed at the pollution that local and state governments, themselves, produce. It’s always best to lead by example.
Does the county’s commission form of government still work? Should we adopt a charter government, or code home rule?
Although there can be clear benefits for the county and residents, this should carefully be weighed against the bureaucracy it will create. Regardless of political ideology, if you grant anyone the power of taxation - they’ll use it.
