What are your three priorities for the next four years, if elected?

1. Fiscal responsibility to taxpayers. 2. Education of each and every child. 3. Public safety at all levels.

How would you rate the performance of the current representatives of your district: excellent, good, fair or poor? Why?

No answer.

Do you support amending the constitution to give the legislature more budget authority?

I do not support giving the legislature more authority.

Is the rate of growth in Maryland too fast, too slow or about right and why?

Based on our infrastructure, I believe we are growing too fast.

What programs would you like to add or cut from the state budget? How would you pay for additional programs? What would you do with the money from any cuts you make?

Before cutting or adding any programs, I would need to see the statistics on all current programs regarding their effectiveness. My goal would be to weed out ineffective programs, and shift funds to other areas of need without increasing taxes.

Are there specific taxes or fees that you would cut?

I would do away with any taxes or fees connected with the institution of marriage.

Do you support slot machines for Maryland? Why or why not?

I will vote against slot machines in Maryland. The decision is based on my values, and represents the values of many others in the community.

Do you support giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants?

Since insurance and other issues are connected with getting a driver’s license, it would not be in the best interest for Marylanders.

Do you support in-state tuition to illegal immigrants?

Researching the effect on our educational system in Maryland would be necessary before making any decision.

What is the biggest problem facing higher education and what would you do to solve it?

The transition from high school to college is difficult for some students. Since the dropout rate is highest in the freshman year of college, I would encourage more students to consider attending a community college for the first two years.

Where would you get more money for the Transportation Trust Fund?

Transportation issues many times involve other states, so an agreement with another state may need to be part of the plan. Streamlining government in other areas without increasing taxes would be my goal.

What specific transportation projects do you see as priorities for the state?

Projects that affect commuters are a top priority.

Should there be a dedicated funding source for Washington and Baltimore mass transit?

A dedicated funding source will probably be necessary with the increasing cost of energy.

Would you re-regulate the electricity industry?

Regulating any industry concerns me, but we do need to provide ways to help those in need and on a fixed income.

Do you believe Maryland’s gun control laws are too strict, not strict enough or just right?

Maryland’s gun control laws are too strict compared to our surrounding states.

What is your position on abortion?

My position is pro-life, and I support pro-life organizations.

Should the Maryland constitution be changed to allow same-sex marriages?

The Maryland constitution should not be changed to support same-sex marriages.

Does the state need stricter controls to protect the environment?

Protecting the environment begins with each of us. If certain areas are more susceptible to abuse, we may need stricter controls in those areas.

Does the county’s commission form of government still work? Should we adopt a charter government, or code home rule?

Having worked with the county commissioners and chaired joint meetings while serving the people of Frederick, I support the current form of government.
