County eyesmore hatchlings

The Prince George's County Council last week unanimously approved a $62,500 study on opening a new specialized business incubator in the Foreign Trade Zone in Capitol Heights.

The incubator – the county’s third – will help Prince George’s meet its goal of developing relationships with foreign companies, as African and other nations gain prominence as trading partners, Council Chairman Samuel Dean said.

The council accepted a grant from the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Fund to pay for the feasibility study, which will explore the requirements for establishing an international office and warehouse business incubator at the Steeplechase 95 International Business Park.

TMI graduates fromcounty incubator

TMI Solutions has graduated from the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corp.’s Technology Assistance Center incubator to a Lanham location. TMI, almost 4 years old, is a certified Small Business Administration company that provides information technology systems to local and federal government agencies.

Among its contracts is has a $4 billion deal with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Bennigan’s filesfor bankruptcy

The Bennigan’s restaurant chain has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and is closing its eateries, but independently owned franchises remain open.

The Plano, Texas, chain’s Web site lists four restaurants in Maryland, including one in Greenbelt; calls there were not answered Tuesday.

A Bennigan spokeswoman said the bankruptcy filing, under which the chain will liquidate its holdings, also affects its Steak & Ale and Tavern restaurants, which are closing.
