Presidio earned the award based on revenue growth of 58.3 percent in 2007, following growth of 222 percent in 2006. Skanska USA Building Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., won the Best Green Building Award from the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties’ Maryland⁄D.C. chapter for the 192,000-square-foot Camille Kendall Academic Center at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville. The building achieved gold certification in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. Bethesda Design Web was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Website Development by the Interactive Media Awards for its work on the Web site of Explore-It-All Science Center, a nonprofit that provides informal science and engineering opportunities to students in grades K-6 in the Washington, D.C., region. AAI Corp. of Hunt Valley won the 2008 North American Unmanned Systems Technology Innovation of the Year Award from research firm Frost & Sullivan for the second consecutive year. Whiteford, Taylor & Preston of Baltimore and 10 of its lawyers were ranked among the nation’s leading firms and business lawyers by Chambers and Partners. The firm was ranked for its practices in employee benefits, executive compensation, medical malpractice, bankruptcy and other areas. Its recognized lawyers are Thomas C. Mid-Atlantic Sports Network of Baltimore won two Emmy awards in the categories of Promotion-Program-Campaign and Promotion-Image-Station for promotions featuring Baltimore Orioles players. The network also won two Marketing Excellence Awards — first place and runner-up — from the American Marketing Association’s Baltimore chapter. Giant Food of Landover was named Employer of the Year by the Marriott Foundation for its role in hiring young adults with disabilities. Giant was honored for its participation in the foundation’s Bridges ... from school to work program. Marriott International of Bethesda was ranked 29th among the ‘‘Best Places to Work in IT” by Computerworld magazine. Marriott, the top lodging company on the list, was ranked for the sixth consecutive year. A Colorado Springs, Colo., unit of Lockheed Martin of Bethesda, was one of 23 recipients of the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for 2008 from Defense Security Services for ‘‘excellence and innovation in their overall security program management, implementation and oversight.” Crosby Marketing Communications of Annapolis won eight awards from the Maryland chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Among them were top nonprofit annual report for ‘‘Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation: Report to the Community 2006”; best audio-video program for ‘‘On Any Given Day,” a public education video for the National Association of Social Workers; and best marketing communications for Existing Products or Services for Kaiser Permanente’s Personal Health Kit. Loiederman Soltesz Associates of Rockville won an Award of Excellence from the Frederick County Builders Association for its work on the Country Inn at Seth’s Folly, which was named Best Integration of a Historical Feature in the land development division.
