County police, fire and school officials will hold a public safety emergency exercise at Clarksburg High School on Wims Road beginning the morning of Aug. 1 and continuing through the afternoon.

From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Montgomery County law enforcement agencies, fire and rescue crews, the Montgomery County Emergency Management Group and county school administrators will stage a full-scale response as though there were a public safety emergency inside the high school, county police reported.

Lights, sirens and real weapons will not be used, but officers will be armed with simulated weapons and conducting realistic drills.

A police command bus will be parked in the Rocky Hill Middle School parking lot on Brick Haven Way, but will not disrupt the school’s summer activities.

Agencies are ensuring the public that while it will be treated as a real emergency, it is just a drill.
