Open forum: Power out — again

Another minor thunderstorm, another power outage. This is almost a weekly occurrence around here during much of the year. Other times it’s the wind or snow and ice.

In any case, our overhead power lines are vulnerable. Isn’t it time to put them underground? Newcomers from Europe think we’re Third World.

Pepco, et al, say it would be too expensive and customers wouldn’t like it. But what is the cost now to the power companies and to consumers from downed power lines and lack of power?

Both our next-door neighbors have bought generators for such occurrences. This should not be necessary in this highfalutin area.
