Stop scaring legal immigrants

The July 18 headline, ‘‘Raid leaves immigrants uneasy,” left me uneasy. I am an immigrant to this wonderful land; should I be uneasy?

Fortunately for me, the headline is inaccurate. An important word, ‘‘illegal,” was omitted. Illegal immigrants should be uneasy, and ‘‘illegal” is not me.

Does this reflect an editorial policy of The Gazette? Do you lump together all immigrants, regardless of whether or not they arrived in compliance with the law? If so, then shame on you for frightening all immigrants. Legal immigrants have nothing to fear.

If the headline is not reflective of editorial policy, then may I suggest a more detailed review of headlines prior to publication?
