The following is a sampling from news summaries and online crime reports from Montgomery County Police. The words ‘‘arrested” and ‘‘charged” do not imply guilt.

Silver Spring district

Armed robberies

*July 10: A man with a handgun followed by another man took cash from a 33-year-old Laurel woman and tied her up 8:30 a.m. after she unlocked the doors to the Check Cash Depot at 10128 Colesville Road.

The robbers were black. The one with the gun was of unknown age, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed between 200 and 220 pounds, and wore black pants and a cream-colored shirt. The other was between 30 and 35 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighed between 170 and 175 pounds, and wore dark blue jeans, a dark blue vest and a black cap.

*July 5: A male asked two Silver Spring boys, ages 16 and 17, for some change before two other males, one with a handgun, approached and took the boys’ money and property 1:10 a.m. at a bus stop in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue. One of the males assaulted the boys.

The robbers were black and of unknown age. One was 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighed between 190 and 200 pounds, had dreadlocks, and wore a black T-shirt and blue jeans. The second one was 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed between 140 and 150 pounds, had a goatee, and wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The third was also 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed between 150 and 160 pounds, and wore a green shirt with white lettering and blue jeans.

*June 25: Two men, one who hinted he had a gun, took property from a 26-year-old Takoma Park man 11:30 p.m. after they demanded his cell phone and one of them scratched him with scissors. The victim, who was waiting for a bus at the lower level of the Silver Spring Metro station, was able to flee but left some property behind which was taken.

The robbers were Hispanic, between 24 and 27 years old. One was 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighed between 175 and 200 pounds, had a spider web tattoo on his right hand, and wore a red T-shirt and blue jeans. The other had a light complexion, was between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighed between 140 and 165 pounds, had tattoos on his left and right arms, and wore blue jeans, a blue baseball cap and blue T-shirt.

*June 26: A man took money and property from a 7-Eleven store at 8619 16th St. after robbing two employees at gunpoint 2:15 a.m.

The robber was black, between 25 and 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed between 140 and 150 pounds, bald, and wore black gloves, black shoes, black mask, black pants and a hooded black coat.

*June 25: Two men, one with a knife, took property from two Silver Spring women, ages 61 and 64, after threatening to kill them and demanding their bags and car keys 10:54 a.m. in the 400 block of Kerwin Drive.

The robbers were Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. One weighed between 190 and 220 pounds, and wore a green T-shirt. The other weighed between 160 and 180 pounds.

*June 22: A man with a handgun took money and property from a 25-year-old Silver Spring man 6:30 p.m. in the area of Arliss Street and Piney Branch Road.

The robber was Hispanic, between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighed 200 pounds, and wore a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

*June 22: A male with a handgun took a cell phone from a 35-year-old Silver Spring man 5:45 p.m. in the area of Chickasaw Drive and 11th Street. The robber had demanded the victim’s money but the victim dropped the phone and ran. The robber was of unknown age, 6 feet tall, wore black shorts, a black shirt and a doo-rag.

*July 18: One of two males opened a pizza deliveryman’s car door, pointed a gun at him and took his money 9:30 p.m. as the 20-year-old driver was making a delivery on Cedar Tree Drive. The victim complied and the robber ran away. There was no further description available.

Strong-arm robbery

*June 23: One person in a group of six punched a 28-year-old Silver Spring man in the face and another took the victim’s wallet 11 p.m. on Arliss Street near Piney Branch Road.

The group members were black, three males and three females. One was a boy, 14 to 15 years old. He wore a red button-up shirt. Another male was 18 to 20 years old with a tattoo on his left arm and a white tank-top shirt. A third male was also 18 to 20 years old, and wore a black skullcap and white tank top. The others were females ages 18 to 20.

*June 20: A male grabbed a 20-year-old Silver Spring woman by the throat and took her purse 2 a.m. in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard after the male and another he was with asked the victim if she wanted a ride.

They were black, had their hair in cornrows and braids, and wore blue jeans, One was between 20 and 26 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighed between 200 and 230 pounds, and wore a black T-shirt. The other was between 15 and 19 years old, between 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighed between 140 and 170 pounds, and wore a white T-shirt.

*July 9: Two boys threatened to punch two Silver Spring boys and took their scooter and bicycle 4:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Angelwing Drive.

They were black, between 13 and 19 years old. One was 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighed 160 pounds, and wore multicolored shorts. The other was 6 feet tall and wore a multicolored shirt.

*July 17: Four males ages 17 to 19 assaulted a 13-year-old Silver Spring boy, knocked him to the ground, took his property as the victim was walking his dog just after 10 p.m. on Sheffield Manor Drive. The robbers then ran. They were black; there was no further description provided.

Aggravated assault

*July 19: A male grabbed a phone from his 23-year-old girlfriend, pushed her and tried to choke her until she lost consciousness after hearing her talk about him 1:40 a.m. in the 8500 block of Glenview Avenue. When she regained consciousness, the male was leaving with a friend in the friend’s car. She gave his name to police.

Arrests

*June 30: Kurtis Walker, 18, of the 14200 block of Pear Tree Lane in Silver Spring, a 17-year-old Silver Spring boy, a 14-year-old boy, no known address, and a 14-year-old Silver Spring boy were charged with armed robbery after a 24-year-old Silver Spring man was robbed at gunpoint about 4:40 a.m. at Piney Branch Road and Carroll Avenue.

Wheaton-Glenmont district

Armed robberies

*June 7: A man riding in the passenger seat of a red Toyota or Honda displayed a handgun, knocked a 28-year-old Silver Spring man to the ground and took his wallet between 10:40 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. near the 2600 block of Cory Terrace. The victim said he had seen the robber and the driver of the car earlier near the Wheaton Metro and Westfield Wheaton.

They were black, between 18 and 25 years old, 6 feet tall, and weighed between 130 and 140 pounds. The passenger wore a mask.

*June 10: Two men in a black van who were armed with knives threatened to kill a 33-year-old man, then forced him to the ground and took his cash about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Havard Road. The robbers then fled eastbound on Havard Road in the van.

They were white, between 18 and 22 years old, and wore black T-shirts, blue jeans and black baseball hats. One was 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 160 pounds. The other was 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet tall and weighed between 150 and 160 pounds.

Strong-arm robbery

*June 22: Three males attacked a 33-year-old Wheaton man about 10 p.m. as he was walking on the east sidewalk of Amherst Avenue. Two of them kicked the victim to the ground, and took his wallet and cash, while the third suspect acted as a lookout.

They were black, and wore black T-shirts and black pants. The first two were 17 to 19 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 165 pounds. The third was between 12 and 19 years old and weighed 125 pounds.
