Beltsville jazz musicians to play under the starsThe Beltsville Community Center is hosting the second show in its ‘‘Jazz Under the Stars” series on Saturday. The show starts at 7 p.m. and will feature Beltsville jazz musician Steve Rosenheim. The free concert is sponsored by the Music Performance Fund and the Beltsville Recreation Council. Beltsville’s Jim Moore, who helped to organize the concert series, described Rosenheim’s musical style as ‘‘the most basic type of jazz and traditional jazz” Rosenheim has previously played at the event and Moore said that he’s been a crowd favorite. ‘‘The last time he was here we had bad weather and he performed indoors, but people were still dancing,” Moore said. About 137 people were on hand for a performance by Burtonsville-based jazz group Project Natale and Moore said he hopes even more come to the next one. Moore said he would like to expand the program to four shows a summer but the Beltsville Community Center does not have its own sound system and relies on the musicians to bring their own. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair as well as a pair of dancing shoes. In the event of rain, the show will move inside. For more information, call the Beltsville Community Center, located at 3900 Sellman Road, at 301-937-6613 or visit the Beltsville Recreation Council Web site at www.beltsville.org.
