Sykesville’s historic Colored Schoolhouse will hold a lemonade social from 1-4 p.m. Saturday.
The lemonade social serves as an open house for the building, 518 Schoolhouse Road, Sykesville, where people can come in and learn about the history of the building and the segregated times. Tours will also be available.
‘‘We’ll have a lot of games out that great-grandma and great-grandpa have played like jacks and jump rope,” said curator Pat Greenwald. ‘‘...The adults use the kids as an excuse of [playing].”
The schoolhouse will also dedicate a recently built rain garden to the late Harry Haight, who owned Haight Funeral Home, she said.
For information, e-mail Greenwald at patgreenwald@comcast.net or call 410-489-6540.
