An 80-year-old Gaithersburg man was killed Thursday after his blue 1997 Honda Accord collided with an SUV at the intersection of Midcounty Highway and Woodfield Road.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, John Langford Eubank Sr., of the unit block of Portside Court, was driving west on Midcounty Highway when a black 2003 Ford Ranger heading east tried to turn left onto Woodfield Road. Eubank was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, Marco A. Ekonomo Martinez, 25, of Germantown, was taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital with ‘‘non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police. No charges have been filed against him, police said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police ask witnesses to call 301-840-2435.
