Phyllis Shelton

Phyllis M. Shelton, 87, of Gaithersburg, formerly of Spring Lake Heights and Westfield, N.J., died on July 3 at Golden Living Center in Frederick.

Born in Canton, Ohio, on Feb. 3, 1921, she was the wife of the late Charles Shelton.

During World War II, Mrs. Shelton was a clerk at the draft board in Canton and was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was an accomplished artist, and her hobbies included gardening.

Survivors include a daughter, Lori Briggs and husband Jim of Gaithersburg, two grandsons, two nieces and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Shannon.

Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a Red Cross chapter of one’s choice.
