An 80-year-old Gaithersburg man was killed Thursday after his blue 1997 Honda Accord collided with an SUV at the intersection of Midcounty Highway and Woodfield Road.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, John Langford Eubank Sr., of the unit block of Portside Court, was driving west on Midcounty Highway when a black 2003 Ford Ranger heading east tried to turn left onto Woodfield Road. Eubank was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, Marco A. Ekonomo Martinez, 25, of Germantown, was taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital with ‘‘non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police. No charges have been filed against him, police said, but the investigation is ongoing. Police ask witnesses to call 301-840-2435.

Then on Sunday, Krzysztof Galecki, 18, of the 19300 block of Cypress Hill Way, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Olney-Laytonsville Road (Route 108) near Olney Mill Road in Olney.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white 1997 BMW M3 was traveling west on Olney-Laytonsville Road at about 2:37 a.m. when it left the road and struck a tree, police reported. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.

Galecki, who was driving, was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed either of the crashes is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
