An intense blaze that kept firefighters from three counties busy for hours early Tuesday evening caused heavy damage to this house on Santini Road in Burtonsville.
A heavy fire that broke out early Tuesday evening in Burtonsville caused significant damage to a house but no injuries, fire officials reported.

There were at least two people home in the single-story ranch home at 15701 Santini Road when the fire broke out about 5:45 p.m., said Pete Piringer, the media relations director for Montgomery County’s Fire and Rescue Service.

A female occupant went back into the house as the fire was still burning to reportedly look for a pet, Piringer said, but she made it out safely. No other injuries were reported.

‘‘There was a little angst there because we weren’t sure if she’d make it out safely,” Piringer said.

Montgomery County, Prince George’s and Howard County fire and rescue services responded. The fire was rated at two alarms because of the number of firefighters called to the scene, due to the intensity of the fire.

Piringer said the occupants of the house will be displaced because of the heavy damage the fire caused.

The cause and origin of the fire had yet to be determined on Tuesday.
