County police continue to investigate two fatal collisions that occurred in the greater Olney area early Sunday morning.

One collision occurred on Georgia Avenue near Gold Mine Road in Brookeville, but police did not release any further details as of early afternoon today.

The other occurred at 2:37 a.m. on Olney-Laytonsville Road (Route 108) near Olney Mill Road in Olney.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white 1997 BMW M3 was traveling westbound on Olney-Laytonsville Road when it left the road and struck a tree, police reported. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.

Police said the driver of the BMW was identified as Krzysztof Galecki, 18, of the 19300 block of Cypress Hill Way of Gaithersburg. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Galecki was not wearing a seat belt, police reported.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
