Two Maryland City residents couldn't shovel fast enough and were nabbed by Anne Arundel County police allegedly attempting to bury drugs Friday.
At approximately 8:55 a.m., officers responded to the Motel 6 located at the 3500 block of Old Annapolis Road in Laurel for suspicious subjects in the area, said Justin Mulcahy, a police spokesman.
Officers said they saw two suspects who were attempting to bury a package in the ground. The suspects allegedly fled on foot after spotting police.
The package allegedly being buried contained about 15 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,500, police said.
Both suspects were eventually taken into custody, and one of the suspects was found to be in possession of a digital scale with white powder residue on it.
Christopher Antonio Adams, 23, of the 300 block of Cokeland South, and Tiease Florence Awkward, 21, of the 800 block of Karen Court in Laurel were charged with two counts of trespassing, possession of controlled dangerous substances paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substances not marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and resisting arrest.
