Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Madden of Frederick are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Caroline Smith Madden, to Scott Ian FitzGerald. Mr. FitzGerald is the son of Diane FitzGerald of Frederick, and Edmund William FitzGerald, Jr. of Keedysville.
The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Frederick High School. She attended Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania where she graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in psychology. She received her teaching certification in elementary education from Swarthmore College.
The prospective groom is also a 2005 graduate of Frederick High School. He graduated in May from Hood College in Frederick where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in psychology and business management, with a concentration in marketing, and a minor in philosophy.
The couple is planning an October wedding.
