Two members of the U-11 Team Takeover boys' basketball team won awards during the second session of the Purple Eagle Basketball Camp at Gonzaga High School (D.C.). Jaylon Myles, 11, of Largo, was named the camp's most valuable player for the U-11 division. Nicolas Fennell, 10, of Bowie, was named the top defensive player in the camp's U-11 division. Myles, Fennell and the rest of their teammates are preparing for the AAU National Tournament in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Local golf league in action
The following were the results of the June 23 Bowie Ladies Golf League competition:
A Flight: Cyndi Favreau, Peg Richitt, Helen Shin, Irene Gaskin. B Flight: Sally Paddock, Ina Ray Foskey, Kay Warder. C Flight: Marinda Kim, Marguerite Spetrini, Margot Le Compte. Low putts: Favreau, Foskey, Robby Smith. Birdies: Pam Cooling. Chip-ins: Mary Schossler, Richitt, Kim, Favreau.
