Trains at the Forest Glen Metro station resumed normal service Monday evening after a man was killed when he intentionally jumped into the path of an oncoming Metro train at the station Monday afternoon, said Washington Metro Area Transit Authorities.
Trains resumed normal service at about 7 p.m. after sharing a single track from Forest Glen to Silver Spring Metro stations during much of Monday's evening commute, said WMATA spokesman Steve Taubenkibel.
Taubenkibel said no other information is available about the man but that WMATA transit police are continuing to investigate the incident.
For unknown reasons, the man jumped onto the Red Line tracks at about 4:11 p.m. as a train traveling southbound toward the Shady Grove station in Rockville pulled into the station. The operator stopped the train as soon as he could, but to no avail, Taubenkibel said.
No one in the train was injured, Taubenkibel said.
