The following is a summary of incidents in the 1st (Rockville) and 4th (Wheaton-Glenmont) districts to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt.
1st District
Aggravated assault
- On June 9 in the 1200 block of Claggett Drive in Rockville. An elderly woman was lying in bed and a man came in and hit her several times with a heavy lamp. He was arrested on the scene. The incident is domestic in nature; suspect and victim are related.
- On June 12 at 1:15 a.m. at First and Taft streets in Rockville. A witness saw a man being chased by three males. The victim was found with severe injuries.
- On June 14 at 10:30 p.m. at Rockville Billiards, 2015 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. While riding his bicycle, the victim was approached by three males who drove alongside him. One displayed a gun and then they drove off in a white vehicle.
- On June 12 at 3:10 p.m. at the Rockville Metro on Hungerford Drive in Rockville. A man was approached and assaulted with a knife when he tried to defend himself against three men. He was cut but did not require medical treatment. One assailant is described as a Hispanic male, 20-24, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160-180 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Two others are described only as Hispanic males, 20-24.
- On June 9 at 6 p.m. in the 7800 block of Cadbury Avenue in Rockville. The victim went outside and confronted two people inside his vehicle. An altercation occurred and one stabbed the victim in the side. The assailants fled in a blue Nissan. Victim was treated and released. One assailant is described as a black male, 40-45, 6 feet to 6 feet 5 inches tall, wearing a red hat and green shorts.
- On June 13 at 7:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of Gatehouse Court in Potomac. Domestic related. A man was cut with a knife by a woman.
- On June 15 at 3:32 p.m. in the 9300 block of Crimson Leaf Court in Potomac. Domestic related. A man attempted to stab a woman with a knife.
Armed robbery
- On June 11 at 10:25 p.m. at Rockville Pike and Park Road in Rockville. A man was approached by two men who displayed a handgun and took his money. The victim was assaulted during the incident.
Robbery
- On June 10 at 7:58 p.m. in front of the Carl Sandburg Center, 400 Meadow Hall Drive in Rockville. While outside the center, the victim was approached by three people, handcuffed and robbed. One robber is described as a black male, 20-22, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin build, wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt. A second described as white male, 20-21, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, mustache, wearing a black raincoat with a star sewn on the front. The third is described as a black female, 20-21, heavy set, driver of a white vehicle.
Strong-arm robbery
- On June 11 at 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of New Mark Esplanade in Rockville. An elderly man got out of his vehicle and a male took his property and fled towards Dogwood Park. The robber is described as black, 17-21, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a black T-shirt, dark pants, possible towel or doo-rag on his head.
- On June 14 at 1:30 a.m. in the 14800 block of Poplar Road in North Potomac. A man was assaulted and robbed of his cash while walking to his vehicle.
Vehicle larceny
- 4800 block of Ertter Drive in Rockville, at 3:39 a.m. June 14. Broke window; coins taken.
- 10600 block of Vantage Court in Potomac, at 8:20 p.m. June 14. The victim had walked outside and saw a male between her two vehicles. He fled. The vehicles were left unlocked; coins reported missing.
- 13900 block of Piney Meetinghouse Road in Potomac, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 9. Vehicle left unlocked; wallet taken.
School burglary
- Twinbrook Elementary, 5911 Ridgeway Ave. in Rockville, at 2:36 p.m. June 13. Forced entry; nothing taken. A man was arrested at the scene.
Commercial burglary
- Great Deals Computer, 8653 Zetts Ave. in Rockville, between 1 and 1:13 a.m. June 11. Forced entry; property missing.
- Potomac Squash Club, 12300 Seven Locks Road in Potomac, at 4 a.m. June 14. No forced entry. Suspect found inside and arrested at the scene.
- Bretton Woods Golf Course, 15700 River Road in Potomac, between 8:30 p.m. June 11 and 7:45 a.m. June 12. Forced entry; property taken.
- Kart Landscape & Lawns, 13711 Travilah Road in Potomac, between 5 p.m. June 12 and 5 p.m. June 13. Forced entry; property taken.
4th District
Aggravated assault (knife/machete)
- On June 14 at 1:50 a.m. at Grandview and Ennalls avenues in Wheaton. Between strangers after a dispute inside Humberto's. Two males were arrested.
Armed robbery
- On June 11 at 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Gable Street in Silver Spring. Three males placed a gun to the head of a juvenile male and demanded his property. The robbers obtained property from a juvenile female.
Strong-arm robbery
- On June 12 at 10:50 p.m. in the 18000 block of Branchwood Lane in Silver Spring. Three males made a bogus order then assaulted and robbed the driver when he arrived to deliver the pizza.
- On June 14 at 11:40 a.m. in the Metro garage at 12501 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton. A woman was entering the stairwell when a male grabbed the victim's purse and took it from her.
- On June 15 at midnight inside the Telvis Restaurant, 11222 Grandview Avenue in Wheaton. A male took property from the victim and ran from the restaurant. The victim chased down the robber and recovered his property.
Commercial robbery
- On June 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Allstate Office, 2919 Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney. A male entered the office, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. He obtained cash from the victim's wallet and left through the rear door. He is described as Hispanic, 20-25, medium height and weight, tattoo on neck, little or no accent.
Vehicle larceny
- 3100 block of Beaverwood Lane, 14000 block of Blazer Lane, 13100 block of Jingle Lane, 2800 block of Hewitt Avenue, 3200 block of Whispering Pines Drive, 3900 block of Bel Pre Road, 2900 block of Bluff Point lane, 1700 block of Merrifields Drive, Park Vista Drive and Massanutten in Silver Spring, between June 8 and June 17 , All forced entries; vehicle parts, GPS, jewelry, briefcase, tools, electronic equipment taken.
- 12400 block of Vinton Terrace, 13800 block of Drake Drive, 3600 block of Janet Road, 4600 block of Wissahican Avenue, 4700 block Miltfred Terrace, 3500 block of May Street, 13600 block Parkland Drive, and the 12800 block of Parkland Drive in Silver Spring between June 8 and June 17. Most of the vehicles were unlocked; tapes, electronic equipment, stereos, money, lawn care equipment taken.
Commercial burglary
- Mirrors Barber Shop, 28 Vital Way in Silver Spring, overnight between June 13 and 14. Forced entry; property taken.
- Karasik Child Care, 10611 Tenbrook Drive in Silver Spring, at 1:35 a.m. June 10. Forced entry; property taken.
Residential burglary
- 13700 block of Notley Road in Silver Spring, Between June 9 and 10. Forced entry; property taken.
- 3500 block of Cherry Valley Drive in Olney, at 9:50 p.m. June 10. No forced entry. The owner was home and when he confronted the suspect in the house, the suspect ran out the front door. Police located the 18-year-old male suspect and he was arrested.
- 3100 block of Beaverwood Lane in Silver Spring, between 7:45 and 8 p.m. June 15. No forced entry to garage; property taken.
- 13300 block of Keating Street in Rockville, between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 12. Forced entry; nothing taken.
- 2700 block of Munson Street in Wheaton/Aspen Hill, at an unknown time between June 11 and 12. Unknown entry; nothing taken
- 11700 block of Grandview Avenue in Wheaton, between 8:05 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. June 10. No forced entry; property taken.
- 11600 block of Collegeview Drive in Silver Spring, between June 8 and 12. Forced entry; nothing taken.
