First team

Player of the Year

Jenny Steadman

Century, Midfield⁄Attack

Headed to Penn State University, Steadman will bring an impressive resume to State College. This season she racked up an astounding 94 goals and 37 assists. Steadman holds Carroll County records in goals scored with 259 and points with 388.

CoacH of the Year

Rose Pentz

Century

Won the Class 2A-1A state championship for the third time in school history this past season, closing the season with 14 straight wins after suffering a first-ever loss in Carroll County play against rival Liberty. Guided the Knights to a 17-2 mark in 2007.

nKristy Black, Glenelg, M

Junior midfielder tallied 53 goals and tacked on 21 assists for the Gladiators.

nLindsey Coon, Walkersville, A

Senior midfielder helped lead the Lions to the Class 3A-2A West Region championship with 50 goals. Will play at the University of Delaware next season.

nSarah de Ferrari, Century, G

A key part of the Knights’ defensive unit. Totaled 118 saves this season, including seven huge stops in the title game vs. Pikesville.

nErin Fitzgerald, Catoctin, M⁄A

A prolific scorer for the Cougars, tossing in a team-high 47 goals and dishing out 14 assists.

nAmy Gladfelter, Liberty, M

First team-all county selection hustled to scoop up 63 ground balls for the Lions while adding 124 goals and 21 assists.

nKristen Keravich, Glenelg, A

Senior attack lit up the scoreboard for 51 goals and 21 assists.

nAlayna Markwordt, Glenelg, M

Junior middie was the third of a trio of efficient scorers with 50 goals. Also showed unselfishness with a total of 41 assists.

nColleen McCarrick, Middletown, M

Was a main cog in the Knights offensive machine with a hefty 56 assists for the Monocacy Valley Athletic League’s Antietam Conference champions. Also scored 33 goals.

nJulianne Nicola, Glenelg, A⁄M

Another All-Howard County pick, the senior was a huge threat whether lining up in the midfield or at attack.

nMaureen Onda, Century, D

A versatile athlete with size and tenacity, Onda, who will play at George Mason University next season, was part of a defensive unit that allowed just five goals per game this season.

nAnna Pobletts, Century, D

Worked in cooperation with Onda and de Ferrari to make the Knights one of the stingiest defenses in the state.

nKatie Schwarzmann, Century, M⁄A

As a sophomore, Schwarzmann, (67 goals, 44 assists) along with Steadman was also a marked player with the ball. Provided extra scoring punch for the Knights with her nose for the goal.

nMegan Tart, Glenelg, G

Recorded a save percentage of 58.8 percent with 146 stops on the season for the Howard County runner-ups.

nAshley Trombetta, Century, M⁄A

Another dangerous attacker for the champs, tallying 33 goals and 17 assists. Headed to play collegiately at NCAA Division I Robert Morris University.

nAshley White, Walkersville, M⁄A

Johns Hopkins University-bound standout was a huge scorer for the region champs, firing in a team-high 74 goals to go with 27 assists. Also one of three Lions selected to the All-MVAL Piedmont Conference first team.

nDiana Apel, Glenelg, M

All-county pick tallied 12 goals this season.

nLauren Bennett, TJ, M

Scored 33 goals with seven assists.

nHannah Bordner, Century, M

Contributed 32 goals and 13 assists to the Knights’ cause.

nBrooke Constantino, Glenelg, D

Junior was a constant thorn in opposing offenses’ sides.

nLeslie Crawford, Middletown, M

Scored 48 goals and handed out 10 assists.

nKate DeFilippo, South Carroll, M

A lynchpin for the Cavs despite the team’s down season.

nSteph Deisher, Liberty, M

Had 27 ground balls while scoring 31 goals with eight assists.

nKelsey DeSimone, Liberty, M⁄A

Dished 32 assists and scored 13 goals.

nBrooke Gleason, Middletown, G

Had a save percentage of near 50 percent.

nSarah Grzybinski, Linganore, M

Paced the Lancers with 29 goals and added six assists.

nKristen Hankinson, Liberty, G

Made 128 saves for a percentage of .564.

nMorgan Leonard, Liberty, A

Scored 23 goals, furnished eight assists and had 39 ground balls.

nAbby Lucke, Walkersville, A

Scored 26 goals to go with 10 assists.

nGeorgi Porter, Linganore, M

Led the Lancers in assists with 13 whlie tallying 16 goals.

nKristen Snyder, Walkersville, M

Tossed in 18 goals with 15 assists.

nBritt Viera, Liberty, M

First-team All-Piedmont pick with 35 ground balls and 16 goals.

nKeelin Wasley, Middletown, A

Led the Knights with 40 regular season goals and 13 assists.
