Prince George's County police have arrested one man and are looking for another in connection with the robbery of a SunTrust Bank branch in Lanham on Tuesday afternoon.
Police received notification at 12:03 p.m. that the silent alarm at Suntrust Bank on 9411 Annapolis Road had been activated, said police spokesman Officer Evan Baxter. Two men were able to escape the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police were able to get information on the suspects' vehicle, a two-door Mercedes-Benz, and pursued it for about 10 minutes, Baxter said. The chase went all the way to College Park and ended at Metzerott Road, where the men stopped and fled on foot.
Baxter said officers arrested one suspect who has not yet been charged. He expected the arresting officers would formally file charges by Wednesday. The other suspect remains at large.
All of the stolen money was recovered, and no bystanders at the bank or during the chase were hurt, Baxter said.
Although the initial call for help did not identify the suspects as being armed, Baxter said it was still unclear whether the men had weapons during the robbery.
