Frederick County Public Schools
FCPS has 58 traditional, and five specialized, schools for nearly 40,300 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, nearly 10,000 more than a decade ago. The system employs over 5,000 people, 2,700 of whom are teachers.
An increasing number of students are taking Advanced Placement courses. Nearly 70 percent of graduating seniors say they intend to further their education by attending college or vocational schools, or by joining the military.
Eight schools have earned national Blue Ribbon status: Frederick, Gov. Thomas Johnson, Linganore and Middletown high; Middletown and Windsor Knolls middle; and Middletown and Yellow Springs elementary. Three others are state Blue Ribbon schools: Catoctin and Walkersville high; and Green Valley Elementary.
To enroll your child, bring your child’s birth certificate or other proof of date of birth, proof of residency, and immunization records.
