History
Located four miles north of Walkersville, Woodsboro is one of the few municipalities in Frederick County still considered a small town. With an estimated population of 890, town officials have been successful in avoiding the rapid growth encountered by many nearby towns. Founded in 1786 as Woodberry, the town later changed its name to Woodsborough, and finally Woodsboro.
