Two suspects remained in jail Thursday after police arrested and charged them with first-degree murder in the robbery and shooting death of Lindsay Marie Harvey of Gaithersburg outside her apartment on April 13.

Montgomery County District Court Judge Louis D. Harrington ordered Anthony S. Moore, 16, and Aaron M. Shepherd, 19, both of Gaithersburg, held without bail. Both were also charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

County police detectives arrested Shepherd, of the 100 block of Duvall Lane, and Moore, of the 700 block of Quince Orchard Boulevard, on Wednesday, according to a statement from Montgomery County Police.

Adam Harris, the public defender representing both defendants, asked Harrington to set a monetary bond. He said neither defendant was involved in the killing to the extent of Shawn M. Henderson, 25, of Landover, who was charged in April with first-degree murder in Harvey’s death.

Shepherd’s father, who would not identify himself, asked Harrington to set a bail amount that would allow his son to leave jail.

‘‘He lives with me and at this time we really need him at home,” he said, adding that his son is a student at Montgomery College.

Police charging documents filed in court say Shepherd and Moore told investigators on April 14 that Henderson had approached them and a group of people in the Grove Park Apartments during the late evening and early morning hours of April 12 and 13. Henderson, a Gaithersburg native, held a semi-automatic handgun said he intended to rob an unspecified person, according to the document.

In court, Assistant State’s Attorney George Simms quoted Henderson as saying ‘‘I’ve got some things to handle. You all want to do something?”

Moore and Shepherd took hooded jackets to conceal their identities and accompanied Henderson outside, according to the charging documents. Simms said they went along, despite making statements to investigators that they had misgivings about Henderson’s plans.

Investigators found Harvey’s body next to a Dumpster outside the Grove Park Apartments where she lived. She returned home between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. after a night of socializing with friends.

Investigators say Moore and Shepherd told them that Henderson approached a female as she walked toward a Dumpster, according to the charging document. The charging document states Moore, Shepherd and other witnesses heard a female yell ‘‘Get away from me, no” followed by the sound of a single gunshot.

Harvey was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Henderson was indicted May 2 with first-degree murder, use of a handgun in commission of a crime of violence and robbery with a dangerous or deadly weapon.
