The D.C. Divas completed their fifth perfect regular season in the past eight years by trouncing the visiting Philadelphia Firebirds, 63-0, on Saturday night at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover.
The Divas scored on their first three possessions and jumped to a commanding 28-0 lead after one quarter and led 49-0 at halftime. D.C. quarterback Allyson Hamlin completed 5 of 13 passes for 86 yards and two scores and running back Okiima Pickett carried four times for 37 yards and two touchdowns, as she led a ground game that amassed 157 yards on the night. The Divas (8-0) won their sixth division title in the past seven years.
The Divas will have next week off before hosting the Pittsburgh Passion in the quarterfinal round of the Independent Women's Football League playoffs on June 27. D.C. won the regular season meeting between the two teams, 27-7. Pittsburgh needed overtime to upend New York, 34-33, on Saturday to clinch the final playoff spot.
