Redundant Purple Line

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

It amazes me that there is such an interest in a Purple Line between Bethesda and Silver Spring. According to the Metro map I use, both jurisdictions are currently connected by rail. On the same Red Line no less.

Not only does the Metro run between Bethesda and Silver Spring, but there also are bus routes that take even less time than rail.

I see no need to squander millions of dollars on this rail route when alternatives are in place. To save 15 minutes? Please. How lazy are we? Use taxpayer money a little more efficiently.
