Audrey Gariepy Churchill, Junior Prodigy did it all for the Bulldogs, scoring 29 points at states to lead them to a second-place finish in 4A. Set school records in triple jump (37-9 1⁄2) and 100-meter high hurdles (14.58). Won county titles in long and triple jumps, regional titles in both events, plus high hurdles and high jump, and state titles in the latter two. Earned first-team honors in high hurdles, high jump and triple jump. Firt team Ini AkpandakMagruder, Senior, 100, 200m Colonels’ best burner in quite some time. Won county title in 200, regional titles in both events and finished fourth in both at states. Leslie MorrisonWhitman, Sophomore, 400, 800m Capped fantastic season by winning county and regional titles in both events and then finishing as a runner-up at states in both. Halsey SinclairBlair, Junior, 1,600m Junior dominated mile, finishing 1-1-2 in county, region and state. Emma EckerstromNorthwest, Sophomore, 3,200m Diminutive two-miler shocked state with 4A win in 11:05.8 after finishing second to Sinclair in county. Hilary MoenWalter Johnson, Senior, 300m intermediate hurdles Senior left no doubt in intermediate hurdles, finishing first in county and region and fourth at states. Will run at Virginia next year. Kennedy 4x100 relayAsia Nettles, Sr.; Dominique Wright, Jr.; Romula Hawthorne, Soph.; Michele Miller, Jr. After finishing fourth in county, posted best time of any county team all season at states (49.5). Kennedy 4x200 relayAsia Nettles, Sr.; Ashlee Payne, Jr.; Dominique Wright, Jr.; Michele Miller, Jr. Like in 4x100, Cavaliers saved best for last, finishing third at states in 1:43.7. Walter Johnson 4x400 relayRenee McClinton, Soph.; Stephanie Alberico, Jr.; Hilary Moen, Sr.; Jenny McCoy, Jr. Wildcats dipped under 4:00 to win region in 3:59.4. Also third at states in 4:00.6. Whitman 4x800 relayKatie McFadden, Sr.; Debbie Isen, Soph.; Morgane Gay, Soph.; Leslie Morrison, Soph. No one challenged Vikings, whose fastest time was 9:22.7 to win county. Also won region and finished second at states. Leah PutmanSherwood, Junior, Long jump Warrior posted county’s best jump to finish fourth at states in 17-2 1⁄4. Brittany McLeodQuince Orchard, Junior, Pole vault Vaults of 6-6 good for regional title and 10th at states. Katelyn PossPoolesville, Senior, Shot put Towson-bound thrower finished second in county and won regional and state titles in 1A. State throw was county’s best at 38-3 1⁄4. Jacquelyn AdcockDamascus, Junior, Discus Steady junior exploded at states for 4A title in 117-5. Won regional crown in 111-4.
