The Washington Area Music Association’s 2007 Children’s Performer of the Year is coming to Frederick – for one night only.
Rocknoceros will take the stage at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Baker Park Bandshell, 2nd and Bentz Streets, Frederick.
The free performance is part of Summerfest Family Theatre, presented by Celebrate Frederick.
Coach Cotton, Williebob and Boogie Woogie Bennie are Rocknoceros. With infectious, educational songs about everything from brushing your teeth to flying to the moon, the self-described ‘‘world’s finest power trio for children” has become a mainstay on XM Satellite Radio’s XMKiDS station and a staple at the Smithsonian Discovery Theater. Playing packed live shows and boasting two critically acclaimed CDs, including ‘‘Dark Side of the Moon Bounce,” Rocknoceros has cemented its place at the top of the ‘‘kindie rock” scene.
In the event of inclement weather, check www.CelebrateFrederick.com for information on cancellations. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approximately 4 p.m.
While performances are free to the public, the Summerfest Family Theatre Committee encourages patrons to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission.
Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank. Items will be collected at the information booth, located at the BakerPark Bandshell steps.
