For several years now, home owners in Hunters Woods, Montgomery Village, Flower Hill, etc. have voiced our disapproval to county officials to say we did not want the Webb Tract to house maintenance depots, food warehouses, the high-speed police training track, and the fire department's burn building.
I am outraged that they never intended to develop this tract of land with anything our community could use and would attract home buyers to our area ("Planners: Webb Tract is best site for parks maintenance depot," June 3 article).
We liked the idea of a park, a planned community of attractive small shops and/or apartments for seniors.
I wonder why I wasted my time attending meetings and voicing my opinion when it meant nothing.
Snouffer School Road carries too much traffic as it is and there is no access to Interstates 370 or 270 from the Webb Tract for the volume the planned warehouse space will bring. I know, I sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic every day on this road and wait long periods of time just trying to exit Hunters Woods!
I can see it now: A plane taking off or approaching the Airpark runway to land next door, entering smoke billowing from the burn building and crashing into homes or cars.
I am one very unhappy homeowner. County Executive Isiah Leggett and staff have one agenda and it will not benefit our community at all. They should enjoy their short stint in Montgomery County government. I know how I will vote during the next election.
