Freeman names Levitsky as its CFO

The Carl M. Freeman Companies announced the selection of David E. Levitsky as chief financial officer for the Olney-based company.

He is filling the vacancy created by the recent promotion of Frank G. Edwards to president for the Mid-Atlantic real estate business.

Prior to being named CFO, Levitsky served as vice president of finance and administration for the Freeman Companies Community Development and Homebuilding business segment. He was responsible for directing the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as cultivating its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders and the community.

Prior to joining the Freeman Companies in 2000, Edwards worked for Marriott International⁄Host Marriott Corporation as area director of finance in Walnut Creek, Calif., and then as vice president of operations finance in Bethesda. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Anheuser-Busch Companies as productivity manager for Busch Gardens in Tampa, new business analyst for the company’s Exploration Cruise Lines and then as senior business analyst for Busch Entertainment Corporation.

Levitsky earned a master’s of business administration in finance from St. Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of South Florida.

Sandy Spring Bancorpbuys Glen Burnie bank

Sandy Spring Bancorp of Olney is acquiring another bank, County National Bank of Glen Burnie, for $44.1 million in stock and cash.

The deal will add about $151 million in total assets, $97.4 million in net loans and $129.4 million in total deposits, according to a Sandy Spring statement.

Sandy Spring will take over County National’s four branches in Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Odenton and Millersville, and its administrative center in Glen Burnie.

JSSA promotes Breslawto VP of development

The Rockville-based Jewish Social Service Agency announced the recent appointment of Marc Breslaw as its vice president of development and communications.

Breslaw joins JSSA from the New Israel Fund where he was chief operating officer and director of development since 1999. Prior to his tenure there, he was with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra.
