Spotlight on White Flint

Tuesday, May 30, 2006

Throughout its almost 30-year history, White Flint has played an integral part in the local community by supporting and hosting various community activities. Looking to take an even more active role in community healthcare, White Flint recently partnered with local health care providers to form the White Flint Health Initiative. This initiative is comprised of local health care providers who work as a team to educate the public on issues relating to general health and increase community awareness to promote happier, healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle choices. All community members benefit from this collaborative effort that offers easily accessible, unique programming.

Members include: Adventist Health Care, Holy Cross Hospital, National Institutes of Health, Premier Homecare, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Suburban Hospital, Washington Adventist Hospital and Washington Hospital Center.

The White Flint Health Initiative has hosted classes on adult⁄child CPR and babysitting, and monthly senior resource seminars. It also sponsored the first ever Celebrity Chef Fest: Cooking for and from the Heart in February. Local celebrity chefs, including Jeff Black of Black’s Restaurant Group, Jason Tepper of La Miche, and Fred Pryzbrowski of Rock Creek Restaurant, performed heart-conscious cooking demonstrations to educate the public on the importance of heart-healthy cuisine.
