Coach of the year
Lavelle Greene, Charles H., Flowers, fifth season
In his fifth season, Greene again had the Jaguars in the hunt for the county, district and region championships and sent his three top golfers to the Maryland State tournament.
Player of the year
Ben Warnquist, DeMatha, So.
One year after becoming the first freshman in school history to win titles at both the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and Washington Private Schools Tournament, Warnquist finished tied for second in the WCAC tournament with a two-day total of 146 and tied for third in the Private Schools tournament with a 74. The sophomore was 8-2 in match play while facing the top golfer from each WCAC opponent and recorded a 36.7 average for nine holes.
First Team
Jerrell Parrish, DeMatha, Jr.
The junior was 9-1 in match play and posted a 39.2 average for nine holes. He shot a 154 in the WCAC tournament and then an 80 at the Private Schools tournament.
Jeb Hines, DeMatha, So.
The Stags got an 8-2 mark in match play from the sophomore, who averaged 37.8 strokes per nine holes. He finished the season with a 79 at the Private Schools' tournament.
Jordan Sweet, DeMatha, So.
The sophomore was 9-1 in match play and posted a 38.6 average for nine holes. He capped season with a two-day total of 155 at the WCAC tournament and shot a 76 in the Private Schools meet.
Nicole West, Flowers, Sr.
In her senior season, West led all county public school golfers with a stellar 34.85 average per nine holes last fall and then had the low round (73) at the Prince George's County Championships.
Jason Park, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jr.
The junior had the second-lowest average (36.28) among all county golfers during the league schedule and then finished third in the county championships with a 76.
Austin Jewell, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jr.
After logging the third-best average per nine holes last fall (39.14), Jewell finished second in the county championship with a round of 75, the best score notched by a junior in the tournament.
Jason Clatworthy, Pallotti, Sr.
Part of two Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference championships, the senior was 11-0 and scored 32.5 of 33 possible points this spring. He was third in the MIAA individual tournament and a four-time all-conference selection. He will play at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina.
Kevin Poole, Pallotti, Sr.
The senior also was part of the Panthers' two MIAA B Conference titles, and the team's runner-up finish this spring. He went 10-1 and scored 28 of 33 possible points. Selected to the all-conference team four years in a row, he plans to attend Coastal Carolina University.
