Every 10 years or so, the 30-year-old statue needs to be re-guilded, or re-coated with a new layer of gold.

Workers have been restoring the six gold spires atop the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints Temple in Kensington since April. They were hoisted nearly 300 feet into the air with a crane in boatswain chairs to work on the spires, which are 55 to 75 feet tall.
