Mother Seton finished Regional play Sunday, led by Charles Nagelvoort’s 4 for 4 performance, including a double, two triples, four runs scored and seven stolen bases. Josh Rosenburg, Devin Brunner and Paul Murray (four strikeouts, no runs) did the job on the mound. Stephen Copley, Brunner, Matthew Murray, Paul Murray, Jake Tran and Nick McCarthy also scored runs.
Damascus Area Baseball League T-ball Division
Louisville Bats vs. Salem Volcanoes
Brian Doyle, Chase Katzenberger, Peter Kelly, and Jared Reeves all had great plays in the field for the Bats. Ethan Rendelman, Katie Sennewald and Jordan Smith had hot bats. Volcanoes Matthew Kopp, Dylan Wardlas, James Ates, Daniel Chapman, Trevor Reinhold and Abigail Anders had three base hits each. Jacob Wood, Nathan Reinhold, Riley Watson, Tommy Harman and Joey Fischer played great defense.
DABL Coach Pitch 6⁄7 Division
Louisville Bats vs. Savannah Sand Gnats
For the Sand Gnats, Zack Walker doubled, scoring Ryan O’Conor. Josh Stauffer, Keith Jones, Chris Hyatt and Gabri Jarvis teamed up defensively. Miles Prather and Bradley Tregoning played well on defense for the Bats. Ricky Jessup was 3 for 3 at the plate.
Iron Birds vs. Rock Hounds
For the Rock Hounds, Sean Rodgers and John McLaughlin each doubled and Cody Mog hit a home run. Lexi Dorotinsky, Will Stansell and Michael McCullagh led the defense. For the Iron Birds, Alex Allman, Matthew Benson, Tyrus Burkhardt, Gracie DeRose, Kayla DeRose and Taylor DeRose all had solid hits. Ian Osterman, Ryan Rosenthal, Samantha Rosenthal and Bryan Sheehan played well defensively.

Rock Hounds Jake Salem, Jack Rogers and Chad Kunkle had key hits leading to runs. Bailey More’s bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning tied the game.

Marlins pitchers Daniel Osborne, Nick Schwartz and Tyler Cheadle each pitched perfect innings. On offense, Joe Kriz doubled, Kevin Sanders tripled and Nick Perras had a critical RBI.

The Cobras scored 14 runs in the first inning and had a total of 14 hits, led by Brady Monroe (3 for 5, four RBI), Davis Silverman (three runs), Kyle Bollinger (five runs), Grant Mixell (3 for 3, four RBI), Patrick Loftus (3 for 3, five RBI), Adam Salameh (two RBI), Aaron Robinson (three RBI), Juan Carlos Umana (2 for 3, six RBI), Alex LaFontaine (one RBI) and Jonathan Jimenez (two RBI). Cobras pitchers Mixell and Monroe struck out 10. For Bank’s offense, Patrick Lightner, Michael Green and Aaron Brown each singled and Calvin Riley scored the only run.

Sean Connaughton was a single shy of the cycle, and closed out the win in the fifth inning. Fellow Marauder Doug Pugh went 4 for 4 with four singles. Robert Burdette, Jordan Swick and Garrett Adams pitched for Rentals. Justin Byers doubled, and Noah Anderson tripled.

Kevin Chen and Robbie Cummings drove in three runs apiece for the Yellow Jackets. Jay St. John added two hits and two RBI, while Jordan Frenz, Kyle Boyers and Justice Smith combined for 15 strikeouts and the shutout win. Kennith Blom and Gus Balderson led the Braces defense.

Grant Mixell, Brady Monroe and Kyle Bollinger set up Juan Carlos Umana in his pitching debut. Patrick Loftus hits a three-run home run and drove in five runs on the day. Also leading the Cobras were Monroe (3 for 4, four RBI), Mixell (4 for 5, two RBI), Davis Silverman (three RBI) and Van Schuler (three RBI). Jonathan Jimenez, Alex LaFontaine, Bollinger, Aaron Robinson and Adam Salameh each had one RBI. Pitching for Burk & Finn were Carter Beloff, Katsu Sato and Jacob Elder. Sasha Wooden, Beloff, Sato and Dylan Webster each had a base hit.

Timmy Vazquez tripled and drove in three runs for the Marauders. Aaron Silver, Mark Searles and Cody Mauri pitched for Dr. Murphy. Devonte Winn of the Braces went 3 for 3 with a double and Kennith Blom also doubled. Nicholas Manco, David Greenblott and Yuki Hirai pitched for Tsintolas.

The first three innings were scoreless, with outstanding pitching from Aaron Silver and Mark Searles of the Marauders and Carter Beloff and Bradley Sawyer of Burk & Finn. Cody Mauri kept the Marauder’s shutout going in the fourth and fifth innings, backed up by the defense of Sean Connaughton and Nik Keres. In the bottom of the fourth, Daniel Searles started the scoring with a two-run double. Dylan Webster of Burk and Finn went 2 for 2. Katsu Sato made great defensive plays at pitcher and center field.

Barwood Taxi 9, Dr. Harrington Bracketeers 6
Will Caudle and John Barron combined on the mound for Barwood. The Bracketeers scored five runs in the first and got big games from Miles Leviro (two walks), Francisco Lara (two hits) and Jimmy Wright (walk, hit). Albert Ford and Eric Hruska walked. With Barwood trailing 6-3, hits by Tony Parker, John Barron, Alex Saavedra and Austin Chroniger sparked a four-run rally. Parker and Saavedra later homered for insurance.
Dr. Harrington Bracketeers 12,Gary Young Insurance 11
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Jimmy Wright got a clutch hit to win the game for the Bracketeers. Vinodh Balendran, Zakary Keres and Jimmy Wright struck out nine, and the Bracketeers got offense from Davonte Dowdy (triple) and Zakery Keres (two hits), Val Opfermann, Joshua Herrera, Miles Leviro and Kyle Boyers. Austin Wayland’ s two hits and hits by Chris Wood, Christian Garcia and Greg Delacruz led Insurance. Sam Scheiner, Wayland, Delacruz and Christian Garcia pitched.

Vinodh Balendran, Jimmy Wright and Zakary Keres pitched four scoreless innings for the Bracketeers, who got strong defense by Ben Brown. Offensively, Francisco Lara had three hits; Keres and Wright each had two. Mike Brunvoll (two hits), Brandon Goldstein, Garland Owens and Seth Riggsbee led Tsintolas, which got pitching from Nathan Kessler, Mike Brunvoll, Brandon Goldstein and Ales Hosker.

Riley’s rallied for three runs in the last inning to win the game. Daniel Fleischman (3 for 4), Julio Santos and Ben Zetts had hits and Joey Ewen shined on the mound. John Shank, Steve Funk and Cory Craig pitched well for Braces.

Destroyer pitchers Walter Joehl, Matthew Rice and Brandon Scopin combined for a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Eric Levy singled in the winning run. Moyer’s Tony Maroulis, Jharol Smith and Dan Matamoras each scored and Christian Rodriguez reached base three times.

Tsintolas pitchers John Shank and Steve Funk each recorded four strikeouts. Cory Craig reached base four times and scored three runs. Nathaniel Silverman (four strikeouts) and Alvaro Lopez pitched for Criswell. Austin Steele and Brendan Connaughton each went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Montgomery County Baseball Association U-15Damascus Cougars 7, Burtonsville 4
The Cougars’ Andrew Osborne pitched 6 2⁄3 solid innings to earn the win. First baseman Brady Dinsmore shined defensively. Jesse Nash, Mark Smith and Daniel Gonzalez all doubled in the breakout fifth inning. Todd Patton, a new addition to the team, contributed with sparkling defense in left field.
Basketball
The DC Heat U-15 girls AAU team took the Gold Medal at the recent Potomac Valley Regional Division 2 Championships, and will represent the area at Nationals in Florida this July. The team includes Montgomery County high school players Camella Bell (Springbrook), Rachel Carroll (Magruder), Alicia Gorina (BCC), Page Harris (Springbrook), Tarik Hislop (Paint Branch), Alexus Jones (Kennedy), Wilize Maleombho (Springbrook), Kymahni West (Blair) and Jenny Williams (Blair). In the regional tournament, the Heat earned wins over Maryland Madness (93-12, Carroll 20 points), Maryland Flames (65-31, Bell 15 points), the Cardinals (67-27, Jones 16 points), the Vogues (65-45, West 13 points) and WFBC Mustangs (81-40, Jones 18 points).

Metro Girls Lacrosse League, Grade 3⁄4 DivisionDamascus Thunder 14, WYLAX Sharks 2
Sunday, Caitlin Augerson led the Damascus scoring with four goals and Katelyn Thomas had four assists and one goal. Leigh Gatons added three goals, two off of feeds from Caroline O’Donnell. Courtney Horace (three), Caroline Connor (two) and Olivia Lee also had goals. Meghan Lockett had an assist and Courtney Kwaloff anchored the defense.
Damascus Lightning 7, Check It Out 3
Also Sunday, goalies Abby Nespor (three saves) and Melanie Jones (one) proved pivotal in the Damascus victory. Kimmie Dauber led the scoring with five goals and Faith Romack and Olivia Lee scored one each. Kylee Patton (two), Kerry Taylor, Mary Kate Staines and Sarah Staines had the assists.

Rock Hounds Jane Dibble, Emily Hockey, Taylor Carls and Raquel Washington made exceptional defense plays. Madison Mahon, Grace Claire Baisden, Amanda Coffman, Courtney Betts, Allyson Wigutow and Amanda ‘‘Beans” Crisafulli supplied the offense. Rattlers Lexi Baeza and Michelle Patton had key hits. Avery Lacey, Amanda Demory and Noelle Demory played solid defense.

For the Volcanoes, Victoria Brooks, Katie Gingrich and Sara Lechlider all went 3 for 3. Conner Dunathan, Isaac Engermann, Tyler Retherford, Austin Souders and Vincent Subrizi had great defensive plays. On offense, Drew Dunathan, Kyle Kiser, and Daniel Schwarzenber had doubles. For the Mets, Benjamin Anders, Austin Burns and Robby McFarland were 3 for 3. Andres Barbosa, Eddie Bengston, Michael Cox, John Donoghue and Jonathan Obenland played well defensively. Catherine Donoghue, Dylan Jessee and Andy Thomas had doubles.

Grace Kiernan had a three-run triple for the Bats. Brook Minturn’s pitching shut down the Sand Gnats in the sixth, improving the Bats to 4-0.

Muckdogs Aleigh Foreman, Christina Madrzykowski, Ally Part, Christina Ritter and Katie Denell had extra-base hits. Kristen Blackburn and Anna Mirani had key RBI. For the Volcanoes, Sarah McGaw, Sara Richards, Abbie Cooke and Brye Marth led the offense.
