The Jewish Foundation for Group Homes Inc. of Rockville earned the Seal of Excellence from the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ national Standards for Excellence.

GXS of Gaithersburg, which provides e-commerce systems, won the Customer Service Award from home improvement retailer Lowe’s for meeting its global logistics and transportation needs.

BAE Systems of Rockville won the 2008 Founder’s Award from For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, a school program. During the 2007-2008 season, BAE supported 71 teams near its locations in 13 states and Washington, D.C., and sponsored seven of the 41 regional competitions.

High Rock Studios, with offices in Frederick, Hagerstown and Ellicott City, won Best in Show and a Gold Addy at the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation’s 2008 Addy Awards presentation for its design of the Can Manufacturing Institute’s annual report. High Rock also won a Silver Addy in Interactive Media for the Turner Photography Studio Web site; a Gold Addy and Judge’s Award in Logo Design for Hendershot’s Sporting Goods; and a Silver Addy in B2B Web sites for the Howard County Economic Development Association Web site.

BDMetrics of Baltimore was named one of the top 100 privately held technology companies in North America by Red Herring magazine.

Adnet Systems Inc. of Rockville was one of two companies to win 2008 Goddard Contractor Excellence Awards in the small-business service category from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt. Honeywell Technology Solutions and LJT & Associates, both of Columbia, and Sigma Space Corp. of Lanham will receive finalist plaques.
