The Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce will be having a lunch mixer on the 2009 state legislative session noon-2 p.m. May 27 at 1894 Café and Restaurant, 10417 Armory Ave. in Kensington. District 18 Democrats Sen. Richard Madaleno, Del. Al Carr, Del Ana Sol Gutierrez and Del. Jeff Waldestreicher will speak about this year's legislative session, which began Jan. 14 and adjourned April 13. This is the fourth year the chamber has held this event. The Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce will host a women business owners networking lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Nava Thai Restaurant, 11301 Fern St. in Wheaton. The featured speaker will be Carolyn Bruna the county cable TV host of "It's a Woman's World." On the show, Bruna interviews women who contribute to the community through volunteer work, have unique businesses or are authorities in their fields. The show airs on Channel 16, Montgomery Municipal Cable on Mondays at 9:30 p.m., Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 8 p.m. Bruna is also the vice president of Women Business Owners of Montgomery County, a volunteer organization that provides support and networking for women who own and operate their own businesses.
