Two Quince Orchard High students suspended for threatTwo Quince Orchard High School students were suspended last week after writing threatening comments about other students, a Montgomery County Public Schools spokesman said Monday. However, police determined that the students — a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy — did not have the ability to carry out the general threat against students, and criminal charges have not been filed, said Montgomery County police spokesman Lt. Eric Burnett. An investigation is ongoing, he said. County police searched the homes of the two students but ‘‘did not find anything that would allow them the ability to do anything to anybody at the school,” Burnett said. A community member alerted school officials to the messages, which included written comments and e-mails, about two weeks ago, said county schools spokesman Brian Edwards. Edwards could not give further details regarding who relayed the information, or in what specific form the threatening notes were written and discovered. A letter was sent to parents May 11 notifying them of the incident, said Quince Orchard High Principal Carole Working. Working said she believed it’s the comfortable relationship between students and adults that helped quickly diffuse this situation. ‘‘I was very pleased with the work of our team and the way that everyone worked together to get a handle on this very quickly,” Working said. She could not comment on the length of the students’ suspension or of other school-related punishment. Quince Orchard High, located at 15800 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, has 1,828 students and 194 professional and support staff.
