Legislature ignores road hazard: Cell phone users

The state legislature has let us down again. Drivers who talk on cell phones while driving are one of the biggest dangers on the roads today. I had three very close calls in a two-week period.

In all three cases, drivers in right lanes talking on cell phones were unaware that I was beside them in the left lanes. In all three cases, the other drivers tried to pull into my lane nearly colliding with me. In all three cases, the fact that I was alert and despite my 81 years, was able to react quickly, probably saved my life.

The legislators who voted against the cell phone bill in the recent legislative session should hang their heads in shame for not caring about the safety of their constituents.
