Maryland has launched a spring tourism campaign that showcases the diversity of its landscapes with images of beaches, the Chesapeake Bay, and natural and theme parks, as well as bustling downtown neighborhoods. The campaign will target visitors in the Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia metropolitan areas through a comprehensive advertising plan, including print, broadcast, Internet and mobile promotions.

This year the state is unveiling its new mobile tourism unit, an interactive traveling billboard.

The unit will travel to events that guarantee a high attendance of the target audience, which, according to research, are women ages 25-54, due to their role as the primary travel planner in the majority of households.

Tedco provides $250,000 to business incubators

The Maryland Technology Development Corp. has provided $250,000 to members of the Maryland Business Incubation Association through its Incubator Business Assistance Funding program.

The money will support entrepreneurial training; marketing, branding and funding strategies; business planning; market research; preparation for presenting to venture capitalists; assistance in writing grant proposals; Web site design; and human resources services.

‘‘We recognize the important role that incubators play in our state’s economy, and are proud to play our part in their success,” said Renée Winsky, president and executive director of Tedco.
