I have been a county resident for many years and was thrilled to read the article about Suburban Hospital's new partnership with Johns Hopkins Health System ("Johns Hopkins won't change Suburban plans," April 29 article).
I have seen Suburban Hospital's clinical reputation get stronger over the years, and I know that this new integration with Hopkins, together with the planned enhancement of Suburban's campus, will greatly benefit the local community as well as the greater D.C. region. In addition, both my wife and I have had wonderful experiences as patients at Suburban.
As we have entered into a new administration that is focused on health care reform, Suburban Hospital, working with Hopkins, is destined to be a leader in the future of health care.
Our community is uniquely centered around some of the nation's best health care organizations, including the National Institutes of Health and Bethesda Naval Hospital, and now we are blessed to add another international health care organization to our community.

As a resident of Bethesda and a member of the Suburban Hospital Board of Trustees, I am excited about our decision to join Johns Hopkins Medicine, an internationally renowned health care organization. This alliance combines the best of academic medicine with the best of community medicine, and will be recognized by future generations as a turning point for transforming the health care delivery process for our local community and, more broadly, for the greater Washington, D.C., region.
Suburban Hospital's integration with Johns Hopkins Medicine and our planned campus enhancement project both have the same goal: ensuring that our patients and community have access to the best health care possible.
