Prince George’s County Fire⁄EMS Department units responded to a call for children on a school bus feeling ill Monday morning.

At around 9:15 a.m. the firefighters and paramedics were called to the Rips Restaurant parking lot at Route 301 and Route 197 in Bowie where they treated three children, one assistant and a driver for possible exposure to carbon monoxide.

The driver had pulled the District of Columbia school bus into the parking lot, following the complaints by the children.

According to PGFD spokesman Mark Brady, firefighters and Hazmat personnel tested the air quality inside the bus and did not detect any readings of carbon monoxide, however the bus had been turned off for nearly 30 minutes prior to the test being performed.

All five patients were transported to an undisclosed ‘‘nearby medical facility” and were reported to be in good condition.
