Several Richard Montgomery High School students are taking their economics lessons to heart and helping a worthy cause at the same time.
Naomi Rybeck, a junior from Rockville, and Kristy Choi, a sophomore from Boyds, are joining with the Make a Difference Club to sell gently-used formal dresses and gowns as part of a program they are calling "Dress Up to Bring Poverty Down."
Not only will the sale benefit teens looking for a new dress during these challenging economic times, Rybeck said, but all proceeds will benefit The Girl Effect, a program designed to empower women and help them avoid poverty.
The public is invited to donate dresses and gowns after school through Friday. The apparel will be sold at prices greatly reduced from dress shops and department stores through May 8.
