Police say a man armed with a handgun robbed an armored bank truck employee Wednesday morning at a Chevy Chase Bank in the White Oak area of Silver Spring.
Police were dispatched about 10:30 a.m. to the bank at 11261 New Hampshire Ave. for a report of a robbery. A Dunbar Armored truck was present during the robbery, according to police spokeswoman Officer Melanie Brenner.
"[The Dunbar employee] was apparently making a pickup or a delivery, we're not sure which, at the bank," she said. "From my understanding [the robber] isolated the employee as they went inside the bank."
Police believe the robber was working alone. Brenner does not believe anyone was injured during the robbery.
When reached for comment, a Chevy Chase White Oak employee confirmed that the robbery had occurred, but could not provide details or talk about the case.
Dunbar Armored representatives could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigates bank robberies, but did not have any additional information regarding the case, said Richard Wolf, a spokesman in the FBI's Baltimore field office.
Anyone with additional information regarding the case is asked to call the Montgomery County Police non-emergency line at 301-279-8000. Callers may remain anonymous.
