Located in Bethesda, Suburban Hospital is a not-for-profit, community-owned hospital that has served Montgomery County for over 60 years. The hospital is distinguished by a cutting-edge stroke program, trauma center, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment tools, and centers of excellence in cardiac care, orthopedics and joint replacement surgery, neurosciences, and oncology.
This spring, NIH Heart Center at Suburban Hospital, will open, bringing the clinical and scientific excellence of the National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins Medicine to a community-based cardiac surgery program. In addition to state-of-the-art cardiac surgery and angioplasty, the NIH Heart Center will offer patients easy access to advanced cardiovascular therapies, provide training for the next generation of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists, and, through ground-breaking research, contribute to improvements in the treatment of cardiac disease worldwide.
The NIH Heart Center complements a broad range of existing cardiac programs that, over the years, have helped thousands of patients recover from heart disease. Suburban Hospital’s Eby Emergency and Trauma Center, which cares for more than 40,000 patients each year, has long been the first stop for critically ill cardiac patients. Many of these patients have benefited from Suburban’s broad range of diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including emergency angioplasty and state-of-the-art cardiac care units. In addition, the Casey Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has a decade of outstanding performance and is the largest in the region.
Soon, Suburban Hospital’s patients will have easy access to advanced cardiovascular treatments, available in few other medical centers, in a hospital already recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of the region’s five best healthcare institutions.
