The group broke into one home in the 13800 block of Rockingham Road and attempted to break into another home on the same block Monday morning before being picked up by police shortly after noon, according to a Montgomery County Police statement and Officer Megan Duffey, a police spokeswoman. They were also charged in connection with another burglary in the 13900 block of Bromfield Road that wasn't discovered until later that evening.
A witness called police at noon to report the group breaking into a home on Rockingham Road, according to the statement. Police spotted Powell and four males between the ages of 13 and 15 walking about a block away 10 minutes later, Duffey said.
The group used force to break in to the homes and steal electronics, Duffey said, and Powell was in possession of pry tools. Police are investigating whether they are responsible for other burglaries in the area, she said.
